Set up your business in Slovenia
The steps in the order most new sellers take them. Each is read from the official page linked under it.
1. Choose a legal form
SPOT names the samostojni podjetnik (s.p.) and the d.o.o. (limited liability company).
2. Register the business
A s.p. or d.o.o. is registered in the Slovenian Business Register kept by AJPES, through the SPOT portal or a SPOT office.
3. Get your tax number
FURS issues the davčna številka, and on VAT identification the tax authority issues an identification number for VAT made of the prefix "SI" and the tax number.
4. Check when you must register for VAT
SPOT states VAT identification is required if annual turnover in Slovenia exceeds 60.000 EUR in the current calendar year (immediately once 66.000 EUR is exceeded), with no effective date on the page.
5. Follow the rules for selling online
The EU Your Europe page sets out B2C e-commerce and distance selling duties, including the customer's 14 day right of withdrawal.
