Set up your business in Bulgaria
The steps in the order most new sellers take them. Each is read from the official page linked under it.
1. Choose a legal form
The official single contact point lists natural-person sole traders (ET) and companies including the single-member limited liability company (EOOD).
2. Register the business
Sole traders and companies are entered in the Commercial Register kept by the Registry Agency under the Ministry of Justice.
3. Get your tax number
Registration generates a unified identification code (UIC, EIK / BULSTAT code), the single identifier of businesses; VAT registration is done with the National Revenue Agency (NRA).
4. Check when you must register for VAT
The NRA states that from 01.01.2026 the national annual turnover threshold for mandatory VAT registration is 51 130 euro.
5. Follow the rules for selling online
The Commission for Consumer Protection (KZP) has a page for online traders on distance-selling duties and the 14-day withdrawal right.
