Set up your business in Czechia
The steps in the order most new sellers take them. Each is read from the official page linked under it.
1. Choose a legal form
The Trade Register covers entrepreneurs who are natural persons (sole traders), and the Foreign Ministry names the "limited liability company" as the most common legal form for a business entity in Czechia.
2. Register the business
Sole traders are recorded in the Trade Register run by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with the trade licensing offices, and companies are formed on registration in the Commercial Registry.
3. Get your tax number
The locally competent tax office (Financial Administration) decides on registration and assigns a tax identification number (DIČ).
4. Check when you must register for VAT
From 1 January 2025 turnover is counted per calendar year against a 2 000 000 Kč threshold, with a second limit of 2 536 500 Kč that makes the person a VAT payer from the day after it is exceeded.
5. Follow the rules for selling online
The EU Your Europe page explains B2C e-commerce and distance selling duties, including the 14-day right of withdrawal.
