Set up your business in Liechtenstein
The steps in the order most new sellers take them. Each is read from the official page linked under it.
1. Choose a legal form
The Office of Justice describes the Einzelfirma (sole proprietorship), GmbH (minimum capital CHF 10,000.00) and AG.
2. Register the business
Businesses are entered in the Commercial Register (Handelsregister) kept by the Office of Justice (Amt für Justiz).
3. Get your tax number
A VAT-registered business uses a five-digit VAT number (MWST-Nummer) from the Fiscal Authority (Steuerverwaltung), which Liechtenstein companies keep under the Swiss UID system.
4. Check when you must register for VAT
The Fiscal Authority states anyone with less than CHF 100,000 turnover in Switzerland and abroad within one year from taxable supplies is exempt from tax liability.
5. Follow the rules for selling online
The Office of Economic Affairs consumer protection page covers the Consumer Rights Directive rules, including the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts.
