Set up your business in Cyprus

The steps in the order most new sellers take them. Each is read from the official page linked under it.

  1. 1. Choose a legal form

The official business portal says you can register as self-employed or incorporate a company, most companies being limited liability companies (Ltd).

  2. 2. Register the business

The Department of Registrar of Companies registers companies and business names, with online e-filing.

  3. 3. Get your tax number

A Tax Identification Number (T.I.N.) is obtained from the Tax Department before VAT registration.

  4. 4. Check when you must register for VAT

Registration is required when taxable transactions over the preceding 12 months exceed, or in the next 30 days will exceed, EUR 15.600.

  5. 5. Follow the rules for selling online

The European Consumer Centre Cyprus (gov.cy) "Shopping Online" page sets out EU distance-selling rights including the 14-day withdrawal period.
