How it works

From a word to a name in three steps

Describe

Type what you sell in a word or a line. The generator keeps the words that carry meaning and builds from them.

Shortlist

Filter by style and length, press More names for a new set, and save the ones you could say out loud with confidence.

Start selling

Put the name on a store: describe what you sell and Tanqory drafts the brand, theme, pages and products for you.

How names are built

Seven naming rules, worked on your word

Every name on the list comes from one of these rules. Each example below is made by the same code as the generator, from the word candle, or glow where a rule needs a rhyme.

Two words

Your word plus a word that says what kind of business it is. Clear on day one and easy to search.

An ending

A short ending turns a plain word into a brand of its own. The seam is fixed so it reads as one word.

A start

A friendly or grand first word sets the tone before the customer reads what you sell.

A blend

Two words share the letters where they meet. Blends are short, ownable and memorable when they read cleanly.

A rhyme

A word that rhymes with yours. Rhymes are easy to say and easy to pass on by word of mouth.

The same sound

A first word that starts with the same letter. The repeated sound helps a name stick.

A pair

Two nouns joined with an ampersand, the shape of many shop signs. It feels made by hand and settled.

All of them at once

The list deals the rules out in turn, so one press of More names gives you every shape to compare side by side.

Before you decide

Six checks for a name that lasts

A generator gives you options. These checks pick the one that works on a sign, in a search and in a conversation.

Short enough to remember

Two or three syllables and under about twelve letters fit a logo, a social handle and a phone screen.

Easy to say and spell

Say it to a friend. If they cannot spell it back, customers will not find it in a search.

Room to grow

A name tied to one product can box you in. Leave space for the next range you want to sell.

Works everywhere it appears

Picture it on a sign, a package, an invoice and a phone screen. A name that only looks right in one place costs you in the others.

Not already taken

Search your country's business register and trademark office, then the social networks you will sell on.

A web address to match

Check the address with a registrar. On Tanqory you buy a domain in the admin or connect one you own. See domains

FAQ

Business name generator questions

A candle maker packing a black glass candle into its box
What is a business name generator?

A tool that turns a word about your business into many possible names, so you can compare options side by side instead of starting from a blank page.

How does this generator make names?

It picks the words that carry meaning from what you type, then applies naming rules to them: two-word compounds, endings and starts, blends where letters overlap, rhymes, alliteration and pairs. The word lists are curated and tagged by style. It runs in your browser with no AI model, so the same word and settings always give the same list, and More names reshuffles it.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no email, and you can make as many lists as you like.

Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?

No. Names are made on your device. Saved names are kept in this browser's local storage and you can clear them at any time.

Does it check if a name or domain is available?

No. It suggests names; it does not search registers. Before you decide, search your country's business register and trademark office, the social networks you will use and a domain registrar. On Tanqory you can buy a domain in the admin or connect one you already own.

How do I come up with a catchy business name?

Start from what you sell or the feeling you want, then try short shapes: a blend, a rhyme or two words with the same first sound. Say the shortlist out loud and keep the ones people repeat back correctly.

How do I choose between the names on my shortlist?

Keep the names that are short, easy to spell, not tied to a single product and free to use. Then picture each one on a sign, a package and a phone screen, and ask a few customers which they remember a day later.

Can I use a generated name for my business?

The names are suggestions with no rights attached from us. Whether you can use one depends on existing trademarks and business names where you trade, so check those first, and talk to a lawyer for anything you are unsure about.

What do I do after I choose a name?

Register the business the way your country requires, secure the domain and social handles, then build the store. On Tanqory you describe what you sell and get a store drafted with brand, theme, pages and products.
