Social caption generator

Captions that sound like your store, sized for every feed

Tell it what you sell. You get captions in five styles, with an emoji, a clear ask and hashtags, put together for seven platforms and shown in each feed before you post. It all runs in this browser.

10 captions. The one shown starts: This is your sign to bring home a little flavor.

One post, seven feeds

Each feed reads a caption differently

Instagram shows the first lines under the photo, X stops at 280 characters, and a pin shows a line or two. Here is how each platform shows a caption, and what the generator changes for it.

A serum bottle and a jar of cream on dark stone

Quiet glow, every morning. ✨ Skincare, kind to skin. Shop now, link in bio. #Skincare #SkincareRoutine #CleanBeauty... more #SelfCare #GlowingSkin

Instagram

The photo comes first and the caption folds after the first lines, so the opening line has to work alone. Links in captions cannot be tapped, so the ask points to the link in your bio.

A founder at work with her dog beside her

Would you rather: more tail wagging or more dog treats? 🐾 Trick question: with ours, you get... more both. #DogTreats #DogLife #PetLovers #HappyPets

TikTok

The caption sits over the foot of the video beside the like and share buttons. Captions take up to 4,000 characters, but the feed shows about a line, so the hook goes first.

It started with a simple wish: handmade candles that felt like home. 🏡 So we made our own, built to last, and shared with friends. Shop now at the link. #HandmadeCandles #HomeDecor

Two candles in glass jars on a stone ledge with lavender

Facebook

Text comes above the photo and a long post folds behind See more. A link can be tapped here, so the ask sends readers straight to the product.

A man in a wool hat pitching an orange tent beside a lake

LinkedIn

Up to 3,000 characters, folded after a few lines. A list with one reason a line reads well here, and two or three hashtags are plenty.

Back again: linen shirts, made to be worn. 👕 Restocked and ready for every day. Shop now at the link. #LinenShirts #OOTD

Rails of shirts and trousers in a bright shop

X

280 characters for a standard account, with hashtags and the link counted. The generator drops hashtags first, then sentences, until the post fits.

A pair of gold hoop earrings

Quiet shine, every day. 💍 Gold jewelry, made to be kept. Shop now at the link. #GoldJewelry... more #JewelryLover #FineJewelry

Pinterest

A pin description takes up to 500 characters and people find pins by search, so plain words about the product matter more than clever ones.

Five styles

Five ways to write a caption, and when each one works

A feed of the same kind of caption reads like a catalog. Mix the styles through the week and keep the ones your followers answer.

Quiet comfort, every day. 👕 Linen shirts, made to be worn. Shop now, link in bio.

Hook

One line that stops the scroll, then the product. It works on any post, and best when the photo already does the selling.

It started with a simple wish: handmade candles that felt like home. 🏡 So we made our own, built to last, and shared with friends. Shop now, link in bio.

Story

A short scene from the workshop or the day the product is made for. Stories give followers a reason to care about the store, not only the item.

What you get with our skincare: ✨ - Kind to skin - More glow, less fuss - Nothing you do not need Shop now, link in bio.

List

Reasons on their own lines, easy to read at a glance. It works for products people compare, and on LinkedIn.

Would you rather: more flavor or more small batch coffee? ☕ Trick question: with ours, you get both.

Question

Ask something easy to answer, and answer it yourself in the next line. Replies in the comments tell you what your followers want next.

Back by popular request: dog treats. 🐾 Still made for happy pets, still made with love. Shop now, link in bio.

Launch

Something new or back in stock, said plainly. Only post a restock or a limited run when it is true.

Before you post

Four checks for a caption that works

Most people read the first line and the hashtags, if that. Check these four before you post.

Some of our favorite moments happen every morning, and that is the moment we roast for, in small batches every Tuesday so every bag reaches you within a week.

The first line carries it

Feeds fold a caption after the first line or two, so the point goes first. Anything after more is for the few who tap.

One ask, not three

A caption that asks readers to shop, comment and share gets none of them done. Pick the one step you want; a question already is an ask.

A few hashtags that fit

Instagram advises 3 to 5 relevant hashtags. Pick tags people search for your product and your community, not a wall of popular ones.

Hashtags a screen reader can say

Write each word of a hashtag with a capital letter. A screen reader then says the words instead of spelling one long string, and everyone reads it faster.

How to use it

On Tanqory

From a caption to the sale it should bring

A caption only pays when the tap lands on a product that is ready to sell. On Tanqory you sell on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok from one admin, the assistant writes in your voice, and your catalog feeds the platforms.

  1. Sell where you post

Sell on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok Shop, Amazon, eBay, Shopee and Lazada from one admin, so the product in your post is one tap from checkout.See sales channels

  2. Copy in the voice of your posts

Ask the assistant to write product descriptions and emails in the voice your followers answer. Writing like this is included in every plan and does not use AI credits, and the assistant waits for your confirmation before it saves.See the AI assistant

  3. Your catalog in the feeds

Send product feeds to Meta, TikTok, Google Merchant Center and ChatGPT from one settings page, so a shoppable post shows the real price and stock.See product feeds

How long should a social media caption be?

Long enough to say one thing well. The limits are 2,200 characters on Instagram, 4,000 on TikTok, 3,000 on LinkedIn, 500 on Threads and on a pin, and 280 on X for a standard account, but every feed folds a caption after a line or two. Put the point in the first line and keep the rest for the few who tap more.

How many hashtags should I use?

Fewer than you think. Instagram advises 3 to 5 relevant hashtags, Threads takes one topic tag a post, and on X and LinkedIn two or three are plenty. The generator adds the usual number for each platform: one for your product, then your niche, then your community.

Why are the hashtags written with capital letters?

So a screen reader can say them. #SmallBatchCoffee is read as three words; #smallbatchcoffee is read as one long string. Capitals do not change which posts a hashtag finds.

How does this caption generator work, and does it use AI?

It writes captions from patterns for each style and tone, filled with your product and your audience, all in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Tanqory or anyone else. On Tanqory, the AI assistant writes product copy and emails for your store.

Is the caption generator free?

Yes. It is free, with no account and no limit on how many captions you write. Saved captions stay in this browser until you clear them.

Should I put a link in my caption?

Where it can be tapped: Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads and Pinterest. Links in Instagram and TikTok captions cannot be tapped, so the generator writes the ask as link in bio there.

Where should emoji go in a caption?

At the end of a line, not in the middle of a sentence. A screen reader reads each emoji's name aloud, so one that fits says more than a row of them. The generator adds one, after the first line, and you can turn it off.

Can I write one caption and post it everywhere?

You can start from one, but each platform reads it differently. Pick a caption, then switch platforms in the preview: the generator changes the ask, the hashtags and the length for each one, and you can edit each version on its own.
